Summer & Skateboards

No Time

No Miss T

(No Fun)

The boys were so lucky this summer. Miss T (daycare provider) picked up some hours at the YMCA skate park so the boys spent a good part of their summer skating the day away. The boys are already missing the long summer days spent at the skate park with Miss T.

We miss riding scooters down stairs…

And tying our shoes…

And jumping across dangerous gaps…

And analyzing scary ramps…

And sometimes wearing the stinky rental helmets…

And practicing jumps…

And analyzing even scarier ramps…

And wearing skateboard shoes…

And working on our tans…

And sneaking junk food treats…

And wearing fun dragon helmets…

And getting all the great exercise…

And showing off for all the (sometimes imaginary) spectators...

And giving scooter lessons to the younger patrons…

And assisting these same patrons when they get scared…

And feeling like we’re on top of the world…

And watching the real skater boys do their tricks…

And racing each other down all the ramps…

And of course plenty of warm drinks from the infamous skate park drinking fountain (see Brothers for Life post)

We had a great summer and can’t wait to have an even better one next year.

Cute Pics. Oh how I remember the days. My son use to be into skateboarding and I use to take lots of pics of him too. Now he is into Ice Hockey. I absolutely LOVE the picture that you titled "Wearing Skateboard Shoes"

I'm glad you still check on me occasionally. I miss you all and I will be back soon, I PROMISE!!! Graduation is middle of November! YIPPEEEEEEEE!!!!

Gavin 12 years old

Gavin is my first born, my picky eater, my early bird and my most logical child. He's a book loving, ramp building, scooter jumping, brocolii eating, useless trivia collecting boy. He makes a fabulous personal assistant and is a very reliable man of the house when Scott is at work. Gavin is the fearless leader of the little boys leading them into battle against anything that stands in their way (most often they gang up against me). Gavin has the ear of a musician and the soul of a dancer. He recently wrapped up a Michael Jackson phase although he's still perfecting his moon walk. Gavin can research anything on the internet. I recently found him googling job openings in traveling circuses. When I questioned him, he told me he was interested in joining them. He's been working on juggling for months. This is Gavin, my quiet thinker, my day dreamer and my practical planner.

Tommy 9 years old

Tommy is my biggest challenge. He will push me to the edge, nudge me over and then offer his hand to pull me back up. He's so lovable yet so naughty, so rude yet so clever, so exhausting yet so satisfying. He's all boy as they say. He's the house spider killer and lead lizard trapper. Tommy loves gardening with me and is always the dirtiest one in the bath tub. He is me 24 years ago. He'll turn out to be a wonderful adult, it's just making it through boyhood I worry about. Tommy is always at my side, mostly so we can argue, but by my side none the less. He's incredibly stubborn and passionate about everything. My mom reminds me that while stong willed children can be hard to raise, there's a place for them in the grown up world. Who else is going to become CEOs or run small countries?

Finn 6 years old

Finn Finn Finn... demands all my time, demands my whole lap, demands my I phone, but melts my heart. Petey however is not so fond of him. Finn is known as "the handler" right now. He is in charge of everything Petey does, what he plays with, what he eats and where he goes. He's Pete's personal assistant, coach, bodygaurd and self appointed best friend. Finn's inseam and vocabulary are growing leaps and bounds everyday. Finn was born to be a big brother but also enjoys having his big brothers to follow around and torment.

Peter 5 years old

A baby no more. Petey is growing up so fast I can hardly stand it. Lots of teeth, lots of hair, and lots of trouble. He's our number two mess maker these days. Petey spends most of his days trying to keep up with the big boys. Unfortunately, Finn has decided that Petey belongs to him. Petey is told what to play with, where and for how long. When we're out and about I never have to worry about Petey keeping up, Finn worries about him and refuses to let go of his hand. Pete is usually pretty tolerant however, Finn has a few scars from Petey bites.

Huck 2

Lucky Huck is the latest initiated member of the band of brothers. He came tumbling into this world in whirlwind of drama and hasn't slowed down. I can't wait to get to know him more. Huck's personality seems to blossom every day. i'm predicting: dramatic, snuggly, tolerant and brave but time will tell. He is smothered with kisses, his fuzzy head is constantly rubbed and his toes are tickled with the filthy hands of his older brothers constantly. They all enjoy holding him consequently Huck is the cause of many fights. Huck is referred to as Lucky Huck most of the time unless it's Petey talking about him, then it's Lutty Hut. i like both but I really think of myself as the lucky one as I snuggle with this little guy.
